How It Works
At Genevieve by Jennifer, every piece is made to order, designed just for you. Whether it’s a one-of-a-kind outfit, a custom heirloom, or a special project, I’m here to help bring your vision to life. From the initial idea to the final stitch, we work closely together to ensure your creation is exactly what you imagined and more!
I believe in making the process as personalized and enjoyable as the pieces I create, so you can feel confident and excited every step of the way. Let’s craft something beautiful together, made especially for you.
-
The first step is to fill out the contact form with as much detail as possible about the custom piece you’d like created. Whether you’re dreaming of a stunning fur coat or something entirely unique, I’m here to bring your ideas to life. Tell me about your project, and together we’ll start designing something special just for you.
-
Once I’ve received your details, we’ll schedule a consultation to discuss your project in more depth. During this session, we’ll talk about your vision for the custom piece, your expectations, and your timeline. This is also the perfect time for me to ask any questions and ensure that I’m the right fit for bringing your idea to life. We’ll work together to make sure every detail is covered before moving forward.
-
Once we’ve agreed that I’m the right fit for your project, we’ll dive into the details of what you’ll need to bring your vision to life. We’ll discuss fabric options based on your inspiration, and I’ll provide recommendations on where to purchase the materials.
I’ll also provide a breakdown of my labor fee based on the specifics of your project. If you’d like a little extra help navigating the fabric shopping process, I’m happy to offer a personal shopping experience for an additional cost—whether you’re looking for something specific or just want a little extra guidance in selecting the perfect material.
Once you have all of your fabric and notions, we’ll be ready to move on to the next steps.
-
Now that we’ve settled on your fabric and materials, we’ll create a mock-up of your custom piece using a sample fabric that mimics the final design. If it’s a clothing item, you’ll be able to try it on to check the fit and feel. This is your chance to see how it’s shaping up and make sure everything aligns with your vision. If adjustments are needed, we’ll discuss those and make the necessary changes before moving forward.
-
Once the mock-up is approved, I’ll begin creating your custom piece. We’ll schedule two fittings—the first to check the initial fit and the second to ensure everything is perfect before the final piece is ready. If additional adjustments are required after the second fitting, we may schedule a third, but typically two fittings will suffice.
It’s also important to note that if, during the mock-up phase, you decide to make significant changes to the project that are outside of the scope of our initial discussion, additional costs may apply based on the changes.
-
Once your custom piece is complete and you’re thrilled with the final result, it’s time to take it home! We’ll schedule a final handover where you’ll get to fully enjoy and wear your one-of-a-kind creation.
As a part of the process, I may ask to take photos of you in your garment for promotional purposes or share them on the website or social media. I’ll also request that you leave a review or share a testimonial about your experience. And of course, I’d love to see you fully decked out in your creation—whether it’s a special event or just in its final, completed form. Your feedback and photos help me to continue to refine my work and inspire others!
